When the second generation “we’re not calling it New anymore” Beetle debuted, one of the standout little details was these steel wheels that often ended up on the cheaper trims. I still find them to be kinda perfect in their own way.

Don’t forget the white wall tires

I like em. I like the steel wheels on the new Defender, too.

The ones on the Defender look especially sharp. The ones on the Fiat 500 1957 Edition are... interesting.

Aren’t these actually alloys made to look like classic steelies or am I thinking of another wheel?

When I was considering buying a 2012 Beetle Turbo my first planned mod was to ditch the 18” wheels and get some of those.

I guess 50 pound wheels arent so bad when the car weighs 4000 pounds lol

Interesting is a polite word. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of those.

I’d love a white beetle just like that to turn into a Herbie tribute car

I agree, those are great looking wheels. When these came out, the dealer near me had one in battleship grey, with these wheels. It looked magnificent.

I always loved the way these looked, had an original 911 vibe to it. It should have had a GTI equivalent trim to justify its looks.
